READ SCOTT'S STORY

Most people introduce themselves by what they've done. I'd rather start with what I've come to believe.

Leadership isn't something that happens to you; IT’S A DELIBERATE CHOICE YOU MAKE EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I’m Scott Schultz.

And that belief is the foundation of everything I do.

I grew up in Kentucky, worked my way through restaurants and retail, and spent 15 years in leadership positions with the world’s largest bookseller. From there, I learned the corporate restaurant leadership space and eventually led leadership development for a large QSR franchisee.

While this work stretched me and was quite fulfilling, I found myself looking to define my purpose, my “why.”

So I LAUNCHED MY OWN PRACTICE and became a Certified Executive Leadership Coach with the International Coach Federation. After joining the National Speakers Association in 2022, I became a CSP® (Certified Speaking Professional) and have since worked with leaders and spoken to audiences across a variety of sectors and around the world to help their leaders become more curious, connected, and consistent.

I am privileged to work with extraordinary leaders, but time and again, the same patterns keep showing up. The pattern that I think sits at the root of many of the challenges these leaders, their teams, and their organizations face is this: even some of the most capable leaders allow themselves to be at the effect of their situation and let it run them.

They’ve lost sight of an essential truth: their state matters more than their situation.

They have become administrators, putting out fires, checking boxes, and managing compliance - they are managing circumstances more than leading themselves and others effectively.

Here's the part I don't always tell people
— I was one of them.

I’ve been the leader that people are looking to for the answers, all the while I struggle to keep my head above water. Watching scorecards, managing “outliers”, and doing my very best to look like I had it all figured out.

INSTEAD OF DIRECTING MY LIFE AND LEADERSHIP, I FOUND MYSELF DRIFTING RIGHT INTO THE DIMINISHED STATE.

It took someone demonstrating real leadership for me to understand that I had been running on auto-pilot for quite a while, caught up in that never-ending treadmill of deliverables that had seemingly become
DISCONNECTED FROM MY PURPOSE.

But I've also seen what's possible when a leader stops reacting to their internal story and starts directing their own experience.

That's the work that I love to do, because I’ve seen over and over again the power of curiosity, connection, and consistency.

my Balance

I’m Obsessed with helping extraordinary leaders close the gap between who they already are and who they're willing to be.

my passion

I recharge by TRAVELING alongside my wife. I find calm in running, reading, and welcoming rescue animals into our home.
